Last week was lots of fun, here's a quick peek at some of the exciting things that happened: First we made patterns..... We met Ruby's chook. We made yummy pizza! Each week teachers choose 2-3 students deserving of a class merit award which will be presented to students at Friday's K-2 Assembly. When a student has received 2 class merit awards they will be presented with a Bronze Award at a whole school assembly on Thursdays. This week's winners are:
Each Wednesday morning, the Kindergarten students participate in a Mathematics rotation focussing on number. They are broken into six groups and move through all three classrooms, spending a short time on each number based activity. Today's activities included: dice number dot matching, roll and collect cubes, dominoes, numeral bingo, ipad dot-to-dot and directed numeral writing. We welcome parents to join us for this number rotation time, as our small groups are even more effective when an adult can be stationed with each group. We will explain each game / station to you and no previous experience is necessary :) Please do let your child's class teacher know if you would like to help out from 9 - 10am on Wednesdays - as a regular time or a one off.
Wow - what a busy first full week at school (well, 4 days)! Each group of students rotated through different activities in the three Kindergarten classroom this week. In Mrs Dunn's room, they worked on their fine motor skills to collaboratively create a colourful Octopus' Garden - take a moment to have a look at them on display! In Mrs West's room, they worked on their literacy skills whilst playing different getting to know you games, and of course, had a dance! In Mrs Bourke's room, the students explored the big book: The Farm Concert and got crafty with the animals, culminating in a dramatisation of the story. The students all did an amazing job - we hope you enjoyed their performance :o) |
